Flint maize root mycorrhization and organic acid exudates under phosphorus deficiency: Trends in breeding lines and doubled haploid lines from landraces

چکیده
Aims: High maize yields in modern well-managed agroecosystems depend on the use of elite varieties and hybrids. Unfortunately, because repeated selection at high fertilizer rates, some beneficial traits, such as interaction with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi or release organic acid anions for phosphate mobilization attracting microorganisms, might be gradually declining genotypes. However, old founder lines landraces possibly carry genetic relicts that originate from pre-green revolution times are useful breeding material low input farming systems. Methods: Seedling colonization (AMF) anion were measured flint released over more than five decades ago six preselected doubled haploid (DH) landraces. P-uptake-related root traits compared under P-sufficient P-deficient conditions. Results: Weak trends loss AMF changes P supply detected varieties. One DH line a landrace was found increased mycorrhization, whereas others similar to lines. Overall, substantial variance encountered these traits. Conclusions: The concern have lost nutrient acquisition is not substantiated pool maize, although weak exist. Lines associated better P-acquisition efficiency limited availability should utilized sustainable

MBP (version 1.0): a software package to optimize maize breeding procedures based on doubled haploid lines.
We developed MBP (version 1.0), a software package for optimizing maize (Zea mays L.) breeding procedures based on doubled haploid lines. This software accounts for both recurrent selection and the development of hybrid parent lines. Based on quantitative genetic model calculations, MBP (version 1.0) maximizes the expected genetic gain per year as a function of various genetic parameters and op...
متن کاملDevelopment of yellow rust resistant doubled haploid lines of wheat through wheat ´ maize Crosses
In order to produce doubled haploid lines of bread wheat resistant to strip or yellow rust, three F1 wheat hybrids were crossed using pollens of three maize hybrids. Out of 1071 pollinated florets, success in seed set ranged from 63.1% to 93.3% (mean 78%). Differences in seed set among the crosses were not significant. Embryo formation in the seeds developed on different crosses also varied fro...

After cereals, oilseeds are the second-largest food reserves in the world. According to available statistics, more than 95 percent of Iran's oil needs are imported. Given the growing need for edible oils in Iran, it is important to identify fatty acids in the oilseed crops. Camelina sativa L. is an oil-medicinal plant and belongs to the Brassicaceae family that requires very little water and fe...
متن کاملSafeguarding Our Genetic Resources with Libraries of Doubled-Haploid Lines.
Thousands of landraces are stored in seed banks as "gold reserves" for future use in plant breeding. In many crops, their utilization is hampered because they represent heterogeneous populations of heterozygous genotypes, which harbor a high genetic load. We show, with high-density genotyping in five landraces of maize, that libraries of doubled-haploid (DH) lines capture the allelic diversity ...
متن کاملGeneration of Doubled Haploid Transgenic Wheat Lines by Microspore Transformation
Microspores can be induced to develop homozygous doubled haploid plants in a single generation. In the present experiments androgenic microspores of wheat have been genetically transformed and developed into mature homozygous transgenic plants. Two different transformation techniques were investigated, one employing electroporation and the other co-cultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Di...
